What are elements?

Elements are “plug-ins” built to extend the capabilities of Union and can be
developed by end users using the supplied (SDK) Software Development Kit. There are four types of elements in Union, Sources, Layers, Effects, and Controls. They can be used to make custom effects, interface controls, and media sources to integrate into Union’s output. Elements are developed and provided by Livid Instruments on an ongoing basis and can also be developed and easily integrated by end users or third parties using the Cycling 74's Max/MSP/Jitter programming environment

New Virtual V-4 element

Livid's "VirtualV4" Element is designed to turn an Edirol V4 video mixer into a control surface for Livid Union. Most of the V-4's buttons and knobs output MIDI messages, allowing the V4 to be used to control Union, just like any other MIDI controller.

We have developed the Virtual V-4 into virtual software interface with additional programming, turning the V-4 into an extremely powerful controller for Union, using an existing interface that is very familiar to V4 users.   Once you start using the V4 with Union, you may find your V-4 will only need a power source and a MIDI cable to your computer!

All you need to use the Virtual V-4 element is a V-4, a computer and a MIDI cable. You can also use the Virtual V-4 to control two outputs simultaneously. Use the Virtual V-4 to control the computer and the hardware V-4 for mutli-screen output.

To use the virtual V-4 element you need version 1.51 or higher of the Livid Union demo or full version. To download the Union go here. If you already have the current Union demo or have purchased the full version you can download the Virtual V-4 element here.

Though elements can be developed by anyone using the elements SDK, Livid will continue to develop original elements free for our users. Below are other elements developed by Livid which are included with all versions of our software.
