Real-time Creation
Union is built around the idea that video creation should be spontaneous and created in real-time. The ultimate solution for VJ performance and creation. Livid's video engine allows for complete real-time control of all your multimedia content. Union's hundred of built in effects and support for FreeFrame effects, movie triggering, live feed manipulation, advanced modules, and numerous performance enhancing tools turn the process of creating video into a robust real-time multimedia authoring experience.

MIDI Integration
MIDI integration is at the core of Union. Clips can triggered and cued with MIDI notes, effects can be mapped to sliders, knobs, wheel, and just about any device that sends MIDI data. Easy MIDI learn functionality makes mapping control to a MIDI device a breeze. Use the Livid Ohm MIDI controller, making Union and Ohm the ultimate VJ performance package. The Ohm hardware instrument comes with a FREE copy of Union.

Over 100 Effects for Real Time Manipulation
Union has hundreds of effects that can be applied in real-time to produce totally unique compositions. Effects can be manipulated with the keyboard or mapped to MIDI controllers for greater precision. Easily save effects into presets for future use, which can then be run individually or in combination with other effect presets. Experience infinite variations on a single image with just a turn of a knob. Union 2.5 now support the open-source FreeFrame effects plugin system, adding the possibility of hundreds of new effects.

Instant access to Over 4,000 QuickTime Sources
Using the Clip Grid, thousands of QuickTime clips can be triggered and controlled on the fly, for effortless mapping and organizing of your entire multimedia library for real-time performance. Using the movie players to control the playback, speed, direction, cue points, and BPM of your clips.

Video Layers
In addition to Union’s two channel video mixing interface, you can now add up to four more video layers to your composition. Waveform visualizations can also be added to your video output and controlled through a sound input or audio file.

Full Mixing Studio
Union brings together the processing power of personal computing with powerful software to create an all-in-one video-mixing studio. Union replaces expensive hardware and antiquated technology to allow your creativity to smash through any technical roadblocks.
Elements
Elements are “plug-ins” built to extend the capabilities of Union and can be developed by end users using the supplied (SDK) Software Development Kit. They can be used to make custom effects, interface controls, and media sources to integrate into Union’s output.

Manipulate Live Feed
Use up to two live video or camera feeds via FireWire. Manipulate the live source with real time effects, keying, mixing, and 3D mapping.

Recording
Tired of keyframes? Union lets you record all your creations to disk. You can use faders and knobs to create realtime effects and record it to a high resolution QuickTime movie. Union is a great addition for motion designers, editors, and graphics artist's arsenal.

Soundtrigger and Tempo
Union’s built in Soundtrigger allow you to map effects and trigger files using a sound input or audio file. BPM Sync allows you to synchronize video clips to a central tempo, and set multiple cue points for each video. Union's BPM Synch feature allows musicians and DJ's to synchronize your external MIDI and other source devices seamlessly.

Automation
Automate entire performances with this unique module. By randomizing frequently used settings, The Automator allows Union to virtually "play itself". Great for automated show control and "video jukebox" functions.

Alpha and Chroma Keying
Key source colors and luminance to instantly add into a live feed or play movies on top of one another. Union lets you pick your values by simply clicking on the output and controlling the transparency with the twist of a dial. You can also use "blue or green screens" like special effects houses do to place your source against a completely different background or environment.

Masks
Alpha masks or transparent shapes can be added to the output, either for unusual compositing or blocking out parts of the image. Source files for the mask image can be still images or QuickTime movies. The "Top Mask" feature allows you to mask the final output, perhaps most useful in creating non-rectangular projections.
